Graphic Communication:
Universal Language of Images and Symbols

Graphic communication is the concept of delivering ideas and information through photos, animations, graphic design, and illustrations. Media is used as a tool to help viewers grasp concepts, ideas, and emotions through the creations of the graphic communicator. Graphic communication is developed through software and computer programs that aid in creating digital media. Overall, the main goal of graphic design is to communicate messages to audiences. Graphic communication shines in its purpose: the message. Using tools and techniques, graphic communicators can create unique images, effects, or videos to convey a message to the viewer. By using words, illustrations, or both, a skilled graphic communicator can let an image speak for itself and communicate its message. Throughout history, artists and creators have used graphic communication to create meaning in artistry.

Why We Communicate Through Graphics

Communication is important because we communicate every day to relay messages that may hold significance. Graphics help create the purpose of the message in the mind of the viewer. Visual information can be more easily processed than text alone, as visuals can bring the text to life and make it easier to understand (Talk Visual, 2023). Additionally, visuals can have a lasting impact on an audience's engagement with the content and message that a graphic conveys. Sometimes, information can be complex and puzzling, but illustrations, visuals, and effects can help viewers reach the intended message, as humans are natural visual learners, which is a tendency evident throughout all of history.
